1. Purpose and scope
This policy explains how MAKE Institute of Future Industries receives, assesses and decides applications to its two-year challenge programmes. It applies to every applicant, whatever their location, and to every intake, and it should be read with the published Terms and Conditions, Privacy Notice and Fees, Refunds and Cancellations policy.
2. Programmes and intakes
MAKE Institute of Future Industries delivers two-year challenge programmes across four semesters. Teaching is organised around practical work, real projects and industry challenges rather than examinations alone. Each programme belongs to a School and is offered for a specific intake, and your application is assessed against the School, programme and intake you chose.
3. Who may apply
MAKE Institute of Future Industries welcomes local, EU and international applicants.
- The usual academic baseline is a completed upper-secondary qualification, such as HSC, or an equivalent qualification.
- MAKE Institute of Future Industries does not require a separate general English test as a standard entry requirement.
- Applicants must meet any additional requirements communicated for the programme or intake they choose.
- Applicants should be able to take part in practical, project-based study and to complete the programme within its standard duration.
- Applicants are normally 18 or older by the start of the programme. If you are younger and wish to apply, contact admissions@studyatmake.com before submitting, because a guardian will need to be involved.
4. One live application at a time
You may hold one live application at a time. If you already have a draft, you will be returned to it when you sign in so that you can continue where you left off. If you have already submitted an application, it cannot be edited or replaced while it is being assessed. If your application is refused, you may apply again for another programme using the same account.
5. How to apply
Applications are submitted online at studyatmake.com.
- Choose your route: studying in the EU or outside the EU.
- Choose your School, programme and intake.
- Verify your email address with a six-digit sign-in code.
- Complete your personal and contact details, and record your education history.
- Upload the required supporting documents and write your statement of motivation.
- Review the application, accept the declarations, and submit it.
You may save your progress and return later. When you submit, the application is recorded as received, the published documents you accepted are recorded with it, and any applicable application fee is invoiced separately.
6. Documents and verification
We may ask for the following documents, and others where they are needed to assess your application.
- An identity document, such as a passport or national identity card.
- Certificates, transcripts or mark sheets for your previous education.
- Translations, where a document is not in an accepted language.
- Additional information needed to understand your application or verify a qualification.
Documents must be clear, complete and genuine, and must be submitted by you or with your authority. We may verify documents with the issuing institution or another responsible body, and we may ask for an original, a certified copy or an additional confirmation. International applicants may also be asked for the information relevant to visa or residence planning.
7. How applications are assessed
Each complete application is assessed on its own merits by people, not by an automated decision. We consider whether the application is complete and its documents can be verified, whether the applicant meets the stated entry requirements, the education history and results, the statement of motivation and the fit with the practical, project-based approach of the programme, and anything raised in an interview where an interview is part of the process. We may request clarification, additional evidence or an interview where this helps us reach a fair decision, and we may take into account the number of places available for the intake.
8. Decisions
We may issue an offer, a conditional offer, a request for further information, or a decision not to offer a place.
- An offer states any conditions, the deadlines that apply and the next steps.
- A conditional offer becomes a confirmed place only when the stated conditions are met.
- Where a request for further information is made, the application is assessed again once the information is received.
- Where a place is not offered, the reason is recorded in the applicant portal so that the applicant can see the basis of the decision.
We aim to communicate a decision within a reasonable period after a complete application is received, and we will contact you if your application is likely to take longer, for example because a document must be verified.
9. After a decision
If you receive an offer, follow the instructions in the offer and in your individual invoice. A place is confirmed only when the conditions in the offer and the applicable payment requirements have been met. Where an offer is accepted, you may be asked to provide further documents for enrolment, and institutional documents that support a visa or residence application are issued after the relevant admissions, enrolment and payment conditions have been met.
10. Accuracy and integrity
All information and documents must be genuine, accurate and submitted by or with the authority of the applicant. MAKE Institute of Future Industries may decline an application, withdraw an offer or cancel enrolment where information or a document is false, misleading, altered, obtained improperly, not yours to submit, or where a required document cannot be verified. We may also take action where an applicant misuses the application process, for example by submitting more than one live application.
11. International applicants
International applicants are responsible for meeting the requirements of the relevant immigration authority and for submitting their own visa or residence application. MAKE Institute of Future Industries can provide institutional documents where appropriate, once the relevant admissions, enrolment and payment conditions have been met. The responsible authority decides visa and immigration applications, and MAKE Institute of Future Industries cannot guarantee a visa or immigration outcome. The published Fees, Refunds and Cancellations policy explains how a visa refusal affects tuition that has been paid.
12. Accessibility and support
If you need reasonable support while applying, for example because of a disability, an illness, a technical barrier or a language difficulty, contact admissions@studyatmake.com. We will consider the request, explain what support is available, and record what was agreed. We may need to ask for information that allows us to consider the request fairly, and we will handle that information under the Privacy Notice.
13. Questions, corrections and complaints
If you need help, believe information in your application is inaccurate, or need to provide an update, contact admissions@studyatmake.com as soon as possible. If your application has already been submitted, tell us what has changed and we will explain what can be done. If you are not satisfied with how your application was handled, write to us with the details; we will review the matter, aim to reply within five working days, and explain the outcome and any next step.
14. Updates to this policy
MAKE Institute of Future Industries may publish a new version of this policy for a future intake, for example when the admissions process or the requirements change. The current version is always the version published on the website, and the version that applied to your application remains part of your application record.
